On India's east coast, close to the Kakinada Special Economic Zone, Kakinada Gateway Port Limited is building an all-weather, deep-water, multipurpose greenfield port. It has 1650 acres of port land. Kakinada Gateway Port can handle container volumes produced in the nearby hinterland and makes up about 0.5% of the regional port throughput. The current annual container handling capacity of KDWP is 0.2 million metric tonnes, or 2.5 percent of the capacity in the region. To proposed primary line connections for its export and import containers, Kakinada Gateway Port offers feeder connectivity via Colombo. Coastal service also includes access to the port, allowing for the movement of containerized cargo along the Indian coast.
Kakinada Gateway Port's phase 1 development focuses on coal, fertilizer, granite, and iron ore. Additionally, by supplying the necessary infrastructure and pipeline connectivity, Kakinada Gateway Port can manage LPG imports.
With two general cargo berths and one coal berth, the port covers an area of about 1650 acres. It will be capable of handling more than 16 million metric tonnes of cargo annually. The port as all statutory clearances for construction including the project has received the authorization for construction and environmental clearance.

Kakinada, also known as Cocanada and Kakinandiwaderveriga, is located amidst the sixth-largest state of the country, Andhra Pradesh . The district's administrative center is also located there. BREAKWATERS
The Kakinada Gateway Port is using India's first advanced breakwater design technology known as XblocPlus concrete armours. Breakwater is a very important component of a port development. It is essential to creating a tranquil basin of efficient port operations.
It is proposed to construct a 3.24KM long south breakwater and around 0.57KM long north breakwater. The latest technology in the concrete armour are reviewed and XblocPlus concrete armours are used for the project which enables quick breakwater building. It aims to accelerate the construction of a stronger breakwater at lower CO2 emissions.

The National Highway NH16 passes 12km away and it connected to the port through State Highway 162 and NH 516F( 4 Lane access controlled bharat mala) there by joining the NHAI road network connecting it with the four major Metropolitan Cities.
RAILWAY
